JDM Combe, Sat 8 July 2023

Post by Casey »

Anyone else interested in attending this year? Anyone who took part in the Mazda Rotary exclusive track procession last year will, I'm sure, have great memories of that spectacle! Last year the RX-8 OC put on a massive show, the 55th anniversary of the Mazda Rotary Engine, so it won't be on the same scale this year, but the event and venue is always hugely enjoyable.

The MRC will have a stand, hopefully adjacent to the RX-8 OC and I plan to be on the MRC stand with my FB. The MRC are warmly inviting anyone to bring their rotary and display it on their stand. There are already 2 other FB's planning to go (plus mine), so it would be great to get a line up and photo of as many FB's as we can muster :)

If you are interested in joining me on the MRC stand, post up in here - no commitment at this stage, I just need to get an idea of possible numbers.

Further details to follow on how to book, but happy to answer any questions.

For anyone not familiar with this event, it is held at the Castle Combe race circuit, right next to the picturesque village of Castle Combe.

The weather this year was pretty atrocious, with showers (some heavy) throughout the day :(

It was a good turnout of rotaries though, especially with the RX-8 OC using it to highlight the 20th anniversary of their club.

We had 4 FB's on the MRC stand, so not a bad turnout. Rich took his yellow FB out on track several times, his spectacular spin out of Quarry is out on video too:

Great to see and chat to so many rotary friends at the show.

I didn't take many photos, but here is one of my car next to the orange "Rotus", which is a Renesis powered Lotus Elan+2. It attracted a lot of attention and was awarded a place in the "Top 50 cars" at the show. It is an amazing project build, full of quality, detailed work.

Next for me - Beaulieu (Simply Japanese), 23 July, viewtopic.php?f=24&t=4822&p=50065&hilit=beaulieu#p50065

Then - Brands Hatch (Go Japan) 24 Sept.

The RX-8 OC would welcome any FB's to their stands at both shows.
