coolant/antifreeze

Post by rustyrescue »

I read somewhere these cars do not like the newer pink/red stuff..........which is what I put in ours after the flush.
What is the issue and should I change it to blue or green? older style.

the pink stuff contains OAT which is an organic acid, I don't think the coolant O rings, and O rings in the intake etc will last long with that type.

I use comma super coldmaster ready mix as it has no borates, no 2-eha, no silicates and has phosphates in it. It's Ethelene glycol.
I know a few people on here use bluecol, but it contains borates.

never mix ethelene glycol and oat pink stuff.

A good indicator of the wrong type is the build up of Brown sediment in the bottom of the expansion tank which I believe is caused by Electrolysis. A reaction between the different metals in the engine.
