Clutch hydraulics

Over the last 12 months, did we decide on the cheapest supplier for clutch master and slave cylinders (apart from 1 off items on ebay)..... Most UK mazda specialists want silly prices

I think if the bores of the cylinder are good an mx5 repair kit is ok.
I dont think we settled on a supplier, pain in the arse to get at reasonable prices.

I've never had much long term success with repair kits.... they don't seem to last...
I've just asked for a shipping price for this set...

Shipping has come back at $35 untracked and $45 tracked making totals of:

$97.90 = £60.46
or
$107.90 = £66.64

Even allowing for a bit of import duty and vat, they are still miles cheaper than than in the UK


compared to Jimmy's Mazda Specialists in the UK....

Master = £145.00

Slave = £95.00

Total = £240

How do they dream these prices up?

The ones in my car may be ok but I will still be replacing as I dont want to run the risk of them failing at an event

Mine haven't been right since I bought the car last year... the pedal sinks, sometimes it's firm, other times it's low and the other morning the pedal went straight to the floor and stopped there.... giving me no clutch and I had the pull it back up with my foot. It was then fine on the next gearchange and has been ok since.
I've put a replacement second hand slave on it over the winter and bled it about half a dozen times and it's still playing up.
For the price of a full kit, I can't be arsed to mess about with it. I'm going for a new master, new slave and new hard line... that'll sort it out once and for all.

That pedal to the floor thing is exactly what mine used to do, bit of a bugger when you are sat at the lights and the car starts to pull off on its own.
All sorted when I changed the master.
