My New Project - 85 S3 FB

Post by BO0557 »

Hey guys,

I joined not so long ago and currently have 2 FBs, the silver one had a 12at in it which was some fun for a few weeks until I cracked the front plate and the oil sprayed all over the engine bay – Ramon can vouch for the awesome road side BBQ we had  alls we needed was some steak and a few beers and it would be great hahahah

Since that motor needed to be rebuilt I got some new plates and extend ported them and built it up with some south coast rotary seals and some low comp cosmo rotors with various rotor and bearing mods.. Had the car running and was struck down with massive oil leak out the exhaust. I was 150% it was potentially the motor and I had built it with a bung oil control spring but as it turns out it was the brand new TO4r that had 1500 miles on it was cactus. So had the engine stripped to find out the turbo needed a full rebuild. £400 later the turbo was back to new and was installed onto a stock tall port.

It now sits with a tall port motor and massive TO4 turbo - I recent made contact about a car I found out about like 4 years ago when I first come to the UK. After some negotiation the deal was done 2 weeks ago and now I plan on using the silver FB to finish it off.

The car was originally black with the maroon interior but it now sports the Renault Cleo pearl yellow with a custom black leather / flocked dash and s5 leather front seats.

Engine wise its got a 13b 6 port, 48 IDA, gilmer drive, FC stud pattern and brake conversion kits, Coil overs all round, adjustable everything on the suspension and to top it off billet axles!!
The car has had a lot of money spent on it I plan to finish off the car and enjoy and hopefully do some hill climbs if time persist.

Ill post some pics on the weekend when I go down to the garage and work on it.. For now these are the pics I have and as I do work on it ill post some updates..

No videos at present as there is a little work to be done..

For now i think the plan is to change front struts over to the 4 studs and get it on the road and then later sort out the 5 stud, some guard flares and some nice JDM dished alloys :)

hoping to have it running this summer/year but time will tell..

So got down to the shed yesterday and pulled out the car for a good look..

It seems that the suspension in particularly the coil overs / shocks were built by Leader Suspension - ive never hear of them but they seem fully adjustable..

heres some pics for the front and rear setups and massive sway bars and nolothane bushes all round..

Things i found out on the car...

The car is running a FD brake master + booster and some other clutch master.. it looks likt the master is upside down and has a remote resivour

What i did find was this in the inside rear arches... Any ideas what this is all about??

Image

As you can see alot of wiring to sort and an exhaust..

Image

Fishing around a few boxes and plastics i found this rear wing.. Anyone know what its off?? Not sure if i like it or not but can get a Elford kit less rear bumper for £200 which im considering..

Image

After a few hrs rumming through the bits i like this short of the front end..

Next plans are to take my list ive got now of bits and start stripping the silver car and hopefully have the yellow one home in the next few weeks in a carcoon of some sort..

ive just realised what this efi hose is poking in the inner guard on the rear.. The car has had its rear vents for the sunroof and they have been re-routed to these pipes in the wheel arch..

not sure how this is going to work but i guess just see how it goes

Love the colour - but shouldn't it be shiny?
