My manual choke slips in unless I twist it and wedge it on the dash. Anyone rebuilt one or should I just get a peg?

Re: Manual Choke
I've got the same problem with my silver s3...... changed the electric choke unit and it's still the same. I think from talking to the lads on here that it's controlled by the ecu which in turn gets its signal from no. water switch on the water pump housing next to the stat..... haven't got around to swapping the ecu yet.

I believe in simples. Peg sounds good to me. When you're warmed up slightly, unpeg and slip it in your pocket for next cold start. Job Done, graceful and simple.....and no need to look any further.

Re: Manual Choke
We do go round together, me and Missus.....Codge & Bodge. Sounds good.
But I really believe in work to prevent deterioration, like I change the engine oil every couple of thousand miles, without fail. Filter change every second oil change, antifreeze (Bluecol) every 2/3 years, Brake Fluid change ditto every 2/3 years.
However a peg on the choke to hold it out .....hmmmm.......or several hours pulling the wiring about? ......Nah .....peg sounds good to me.

I think what will happen is Ian will figure it out, then add a clear and concise write up of the simple problem and you'll be able to happily leave your clothes pegs at home for ever more

Re: Manual Choke
I'm with Dave, simples is bestest. The struts on my FD gave up the ghost years ago, I just clip a molegrips round the rod where it joins the strut body... winner. Boot stays open

....what's that ya say? Buy new ones? Are you mad!?
I've had some sitting on a shelf in the garage since last year, where'd the fun be in actually fitting them?

Re: Manual Choke
Circular loop into a simples disaster here.
For a couple of years I ran with a couple of pegs.....kept in the boot to clip onto the failed struts. Then Mrs Bodge slammed the lid with the pegs still on! Blew the wiper electrics plastic contacty bit to the 4 winds.....
Very quick was I then to get some new struts from the states.

Wow! Recognise I do that way of speaking. Putting the verb in the wrong way round you are.codge wrote:Very quick was I then to get some new struts from the states.
Dave, are you in fact Jedi Master Yoda?

Don't worry, the FB liftgate is light enough I'm happy just keeping it open with the top of my head. And the wife hates the FD so much she can barely stand to look at it, let alone actually touch the thing

Seen the look on Yoda's face in the ad? .....When the bimbo in the hairdressers says 'Bye Puppy'...... Priceless advert.
