Easy looking project on ebay...

sellers description:
Here we have a 1986 2.3 Mazda RX7 RWD 5 speed manual. Uses the wankel engine and is a non fuel injection car.
As you can see the car is feeling a little sorry for itself. It belonged to a customer of a friend of mine who was given it; she was the original owner who brought it new in 1986.
It there fore still says no previous owners on the log book as its still in her name and will be changed to whoever wins the auction.
Unfortunately the elderly lady drove it into the back of a lorry at slow speed, I have stripped the car ready to start building it back up again.
It needs: Front Bumper assembly, front nose panel and a pop up light unit. Possibly a wing also, but a good panel beater should be able to fix this along with the bonnet. No structural only panel damage.
The rest of the bodywork is reasonable for the year. Small amount of surface rust around the lips of the rear arches, some light scratches, and a slightly distorted rear bumper. To be perfect while fixing up the front end it would be worth running round the car with the spray gun at the same time. The underside is sound from what i can see and was on the road only a year and a half ago.
Mechanically it only seems to need a battery and an alternator belt. It starts and runs well, no smoke and lots of poke.
It comes with a substantial amount of service history, the service book is mostly complete, has an luggage cover, radio book and keys etc.
My friend’s garage regally serviced and maintained the car. Roughly five years ago a full genuine exhaust system was fitted costing in excess of £1000.
The car has covered 74,380 miles from new and the interior is in great condition for its year, its one of the last of the first series of rx7’s and is fully loaded for its day. There is No MOT or road tax and will have to be trailered away.
It’s really too good to scrap, as I am sure it’s a potential future classic. Though i just simply do not have the time to do it. The start price is scrap value, thanks for looking any questions please ask. Cash on collection only.

Re: The latest 1st gen RX7 sightings...
Looks quite reasonable this Blue one. That service on 15th June 1993 at B and H Motors in Barnet was 3 days before I collected Gus from them.... small world eh?
The engine bay pic says it's not run for a while.....the alternator pulley for example.
Hope somone I know buys it.....I'd love to know the VIN......It must be very near the end of the run.

I think you had a lucky escape.
Buy a solid rust free car and then you can build an engine to your specs. Sounds like you are more than capable.

I've got a great bonnet going cheap if you need one and there's a tender blue s3 being broken here that might have some panels on it the right colour...
