Good find John, I would not be suprised if we could all be in the same position, as I know that my joints are 26 years old and must be past their best.
Have you got the details of the joints you got and where you got them from.

Unipart Automotive - 220 branches across UK. They are trade suppliers selling to the garages but they all have "drop in counters" for the likes of us.
Told them the vehicle reg. and their computer came up with the Blueprint number you can see in the pictures...ADM53903. They seem to fit...
£16.07 plus VAT each. Didn't have them in stock but overnight delivery from the NDC and were ready for collection next morning.

I should come clean and say that I know about them because (as the name implies) Unipart Automotive were until recently a part of Unipart, and I work for (a different bit of...) Unipart.
They are the biggest supplier of "all makes service parts" to the Independant Motor Trade (IMT's) in the country, and also supply parts to the RAC and AA breakdown fleets, Nationwide car care centres and (say it quietly...) Quickfit.
They all have "drop in counters" and love to have people like you and me drop in, as they make more profit from us (and they are targeted on profit...) for the same amount of work.
Having visited a lot of them, I can vouch that most are staffed by at least some guys who really know their stuff and will take the challenge of getting you the right part for your 30 year old car, despite the vagaries of their Autopart computer system. On the other hand you may come up against an idiot, in which case I apologise.
They won't stock much for an RX7 on the shelves but they have a colossal stock available from the Cowley Warehouse for overnight delivery. Prices should be "flexible" - they may quote you MRP but if you ask nicely they will probably bargain down 30% or more. They will only have "service parts" - small stuff: bearings, brakes, electrical, filters etc. No gearboxes or steering racks or body parts.
Go in and talk to them - see what they say. Dont go in before about 10am (8-10 is the busy time) but apart from then they should be pleased to see you.
And no, I don't get commission.... (sadly...
). They recently got sold to a bunch of French venture capitalists so I don't have anything to do with them any more. (or get staff discount any more...

Good stuff John. 
I've got quite a noticeable drive train whine and slop in the drive train. I'd put it down to worn diff/axel, but maybe I should check my prop!
