I saw at least an RO80 and a couple of S2's in the pics there. I know your white car obviously and I've got the two S2's already noted down from previously, except that I haven't got the Red S2's Reg. Any chance you can sneak that for me?

Re: SA Restoration
Well I have been doing some more removing of parts from my SA. Can you guess what is missing

The handbag is not mine before anyone asks! The front chassis at the bumper is not too bad, surface rust mostly and in need of a damn good clean. The front valance is shot through unfortunately, the tin worm has eaten so much there is barely anything left if were stripped back to weld too. So new one needed I think.

The chassis rail in the engine bay is another matter

the bonnet is in a sorry state too, really bubbly/ rough surface, clutching at strwas hoping thats just a bad paint job. Thinking of having the bonnet dipped to rid it of rust and paint as the rust spots are really hard to get too without removing the skin from the frame. Sorry don't have a photo will get that up later.
The interior is nearly all removed and to be honest, so far, only surface rust near the door pillars and boot has been found and looking underneath, its a mess but solid. Fingers crossed, touch wood etc.
The engine came out relatively easily as all the pipes etc are perished so will be sourcing braided lines for the rebuild. Will be stripping down the engine on the weekend so here's hoping that doesn't prove to be shot through. It'll be my first engine strip down and rebuild so hope it goes ok (feels like major surgery)
ONce the interior is fully removed, rear glass panels and engine ancillaries I will start the paint stripping etc so we can see how bad it is and what needs to be removed, welded. It is going to be pretty extensive I think so will be getting help where the really complicated fabricating is needed. Once the bodywork is done then I shall work on the running gear so I can move the car.

Thanks
Simon

Re: SA Restoration
Ouch. Thats a shame so much more tin worm is showing up.
I'd be checking, and expecting the worst, under the steering box and idler arm judging by the rest of the chassis rail.
Still it's good the get the stripping down stage out of the way, feels really good to start construction rather that destruction!

Re: SA Restoration
Yeah I am going to get original SA bumpers If I can, hoping to keep as stock looking as possible although a tubby 2 engine is prob going in under the bonnet
I have emailed Tim at RX motors about sourcing the bumpers.
Thanks Steve, I always expect the worse then pleasing when it's not so bad. Will be able to check once have it all stripped out as it all needs a good de-rusting. Can't wait to start putting it all back together again once the bodywork is perfect.

Re: SA Restoration
So I managed to remove the dashboard, some stubborn other pieces of interior and started on the loom and fittings in the engine bay. When I have finished removing all the final loom, fittings and interior, the bodywork will begin. Which if I'm honest I can't wait for as my SA does look very sorry for itself every time I get to work on her.

There is rust on the bulkhead under the windscreen behind the dash. Not sure how bad it is but will have more of an idea when I have removed all the heater piping and parts. There is some rust in the footwells and at the base of the b pillar on the drivers side. Around the rear windows there is quite bad rust and the panel is going to need some extensive work. When the car is stripped fully, I'll take photos of the rust for a proper before and after when the bodywork is done.
More photos to come when I have uploaded them all. I am trying to photo document as much of the build as I can for my records and help in the rebuild.
Cheers
Simon
