Thanks John, really appreciate it as it is tough to keep going when you keep finding rust and bolts keep breaking (on second large can of penetrating oil) but will be worth it in the end. I have an album of photos that is recording the build as well as offering inspiration.
Haha yeah I must seem like a bit of a slave driver " I'll take the photos you work on the car honey" to be honest Em is way more photogenic then me! I am currently researching places to get some of the body panels sent off for acid dipping and treating, such as he bonnet. The paint is really bad and there is rust on the underside around the frame which is hard to get at without removing it. I want to save as much as I can to keep costs down as well as keeping her as original as possible. Will post up what I find out.

great work Simon! Your car will be fantastic when you've finished it.
Good luck getting that loom out, they're a bitch to remove and re-instate..... I usually just bind mine up with masking tape and leave them in situ.
Are you going to repaint the car in white or are you going for a change of colour?

Good progress though mate........ s(c)

Don't worry dude you'll eventually get to a point where she stops surprising you with hidden rust and you feel like you're making headway.

White FTW by the way. If mine wasn't black I'd want her white lol. 8-)

I am planning on changing the colour to be honest to Mazda pacific blue metallic but the following photos are great inspiration for keeping it white ;)

I love the 2000gt and the red wheels on the rx7. Thinking of chrome bullet mirrors mounted on the wings for mine also with watanabe wheels. Might have to take the loom out just because of the amount of work that needs to be done, but good idea so if I can get away without removing it I will

Nice work dude, keep it up :) It always sucks finding more and more rust but it feels great when you start fixing that rust.

Nice deeps Wats and a nice dark colour will look great on it. 8-) Pacific Blue is nice, but ..... have you considered Stormy Blue Mica? Under grey skies it looks almost black and very flat and then when the sun hits it, it's got an awesome sparkle to it. (excuse the car, its hard to find a photo that shows how it looks)

Hey Steve thanks for photo, that colour is spot on hey as i was thinking of getting the pacific blue done a little bit darker when I get it mixed up. I would love a pair of deep dish 13x8 watanabes with a polished rim and either gold or titanium coloured centres similar to on that 2000gt I put up. That I think would look perfect.
Thanks Captain, it does suck to keep finding rust just want to know what I'm dealing with, then deal with it.

HI guys, finally got some more photos up and got a "what the heck is this switch" question for you gurus out there?! It is in the drivers footwell next to the gearstick and didn't notice it until I removed the centre consol. I am trying to trace the wires back to find out what it operates. Any ideas or if anyone has anything similar I will be amazed.

So this weekend I hope to remove the heater pipes and parts and the rest of the carpets and wiring loom. Going to be a bitch but I should finally be about there for the stripping of the body and then its cutting time  As you can see in the photo, there is some rust appearing under the windscreen and around the rear arches. The floor seems pretty good to be honest, no daylight anywhere and bodges so I am pleased about that. Around the B pillar there is some rust so will have to cut that out and weld some good metal in. That shall be the recuring theme for the future.

I have strated the strip down of paint and rust from sections of bodywork and trim pieces to practice prepping on and such. The radiator cowling and engine bay mounts. Wire brush, grinder, drill, paint stripper, wet and dry and copious tea are being steadily employed at the moment to bring the metal back to shiny. Will hoprfully get some pics of that up soon so as not to depress everyone with photos and tales of rusty woe ;)

This was the alarm wired into the cars fuseboard. Top job! I am also finding a few wires with no strat or end point, just in the car for some reason. Prob did something then got cut and left. Oh well, all fun and games to take my mind off it I am searching for Watanabes 13x8" rims and wing mounted mirrors!
