Hello , help me save my RX7
Hello everyone ,My first car was my RX7 1978 (confirmed by Mazda) and I still have her 17 years later but I will not scrap her .Over the years Tim at RX Motors has helped me keep her going but he is a few to many miles away at the moment and I need to learn to look after her myself .She has been on the drive for 18 months now after the rear brake calipers started to seize .Have put some fresh fuel in and a new battery but all I heard was a few clicks then nothing .Reading the forum you keep mentioning the solenoid so I think I may need to source one of those quickly as hubby believes I should scrap her .Any advice to a complete novice .All I have is a Haynes manual and determination .

Welcome to the forum !
Don't scrap it, its quite a rare beast now.
Determination, a haynes manual and this forum should be enough to get her going again.
Where abouts are you ? There maybe someone close to you who could have a look.
Post some pics, we love an early car.

Scrap the hubby, not the car, lol. I'm sure Tim the Wizard of Blandford will be able to help out, especially as he knows the car of old. Oh, and welcome!

Re: Hello , help me save my RX7
Thank everyone for the support and welcome .Good news today , hubby got her started up for me (so I had better not scrap him) . Next job , freeing up the rear brakes .This is how she became stranded on the drive .I`ll take the rear wheels off and give the calipers a tap but eventually I will need to source some re conditioned calipers .Tim W uprated the rear axle for me years ago so that I had better brakes , you would think I was some kind of speed freak racing porsches` round the Cotswold lanes .I`ll keep you posted on my progress and try to get some photos whilst she is still bright purple ( not Cadbury`s)

To be fair, you can never have too good a set of brakes! Good news it started, happy days
Is it the handbrake ratchet mechanism seizing? They tend to rust like the Titanic and that could be the source of your sticking woes. Mind you, now it's been stood the pistons may well have started corroding too
