Newby from Glasgow

Post by rotor on the hill »

Hi All,

Ive owned my Green 12a for about 3 months now, not had a huge amount of use as I was waiting for a weber 48 ida and manifold,
so, 3 weeks ago I finally got the carb fired her up then 4 days later raced at Doune hill climb in the British Hillclimb championships.
Big learning curve !

Hope to tell you more about it in a different post.

Anny hooo,

Hi there and welcome! Look forward to seeing your build thread. I just swapped to a 48IDA on mine so be interesting to hear how you get on with yours. Starting seems a biatch, or is there a knack I'm missing?

Mine starts fairly quick, all I need to do is pump the throttle 4-5 times.

I also had to turn the dizzy clockwise after fitting as she was knocking badly at high revs.

Runs a bit rough at low speed but hope to dial this out some how ?

What the best way in posting pics on here btw ?

Try Photobucket or something like that to get pics on here.

IDA is known for having an abrupt transition onto the main circuit. Google "IDA third progression hole".

engine bay need tidying with the un-used wires but it does mean I can put the original carb back on if I want.
had her out today and seem to be running better after a few tweaks to the dizzy and removed the Fuel press regulator.

I see you've got it advertised for sale..... had much interest in it? Sounds like it goes well in your hill climb video.

She's on Ebay but not to bothered if she sells, I have been hit with a big bill for my other car and could do with the cash.

It's supprising how well the standard car copes with Doune, Im sure I could have gone quicker but I took it easy that week end, I had to drive to work on Monday morning :D
With some sticky tyres and lower springs she would give the 'modern hot hatches' a run for there money
