S3 Leather Steering Wheel

Post by DKWW2000 »

For the last couple of years I have had a self stitch grey leather steering wheel cover which served its purpose but looked a bit Naff

So, I approached a local trimmer & with the aid of a spare steering wheel(thanks to Dave (Kiwi)which I left with him. Only 4 months later he had cut out a leather cover which he stitched ready for me to sew on, which i duly managed, the hardest part was cutting in around the spokes. The finished article:-

s(c) Badge color is a nice contrast Pete. Grey wheel had a black badge background originally.

Because the wheel was off, I did it in the evenings whilst watching TV :o I used Grey braided fishing line (BS100lb) so it would not break!
I also used a heat gun on wet cotton to shrink some of the creases out, I am hoping the Sun & usage will do the rest. The bits around the spokes I also glued.

I have only just worked out what you meant Dave, I am colour blind so struggle on shades of colour but I got my daughter to look & she can see the brown background, it just looks black to me.
