Hi Mazda friends
I have just acquire a wonderful piece of motorsport history, number 019 1985 Group B RX7.
This little treasure was one of the 20 original homologation cars produced in 1985. As was standard practice in the day, only a limited number of cars, likely to be around 8, were fully assembled ready for competition, the remainder being held as parts to support the team.
Chassis 019 was assembled in 85 but miraculously was never used and with the demise of Group B was sold by MRTE, fully assembled to a Swiss collector and then on to a Norwegian and has lived it's entire life, literally under wraps since the late 80's. The car has never been registered, never been used and is, to all intense and purposes new. Having spent many hours crawling around under this beauty, it has the most amazing markings and dates written on components at the time by the technician building the car.
Having never owned a classic Japanese competition car before this is a first for me, but I must say how fantastic the experience is and how beautiful the build quality is.
The car requires just one part and I'm wondering if any member may be able to assist me. The badge is missing from the rear tailgate. On my car the tailgate is in lightweight acrylic, but the car should have the same black oblong badge as the standard car. On the standard car the badge covers the fixings for the tailgate release bracket. If anyone has a spare they are happy to part with, please contact me or alternativley direct me to likely sources.
I shall upload some pictures in due course.
Thanks in advance for your interest and assistance.
Cheers
DS

I have a spare tailgate. I'll take a look tomorrow and see if it still has the badge / bracket attached.

Great purchase ; as with all - interested in pictures.
When in doubt....hit the gas.
22 7's in the yard makes me a collector...not a redneck.

Re: Group B Pictures
Hi all,
Just had the RX7 back from the detailers, what a great job they did. 31 years of light grime had changed the colour, now she's fresh again.
Dropped the fuel tank last weekend to check that the internal foam baffles hadn't deteriorated over time, they were in A1 condition and no trace of deterioration. It gave me the chance to check out the back end and underside properly and along with pictures by the detailer, I've included some shots under the car.
Hoping to begin applying the rally decal pack this weekend.
I hope you enjoy the pictures! at the following http://s349.photobucket.com/user/davids ... slideshow/
All the best
