Thermostat.

Post by cub123 »

Hi chaps still running a great forum I see.

Can you point me in the right direction please?
Looking to replace the thermostat on my 84 fb.
Sure I used Ebay before, but can't seem to find the right one now.

Also a rad cap is needed. Will be doing a coolant change, flush system etc.

Cheers.

Thermostat - I've not actually changed one for new, tested the originals with a decent thermometer and pot of water on the hob though. So I can't offer any first hand experience with alternative thermostats, but I have read that some aftermarket ones are NFG, so personally I'd probably try a mazda dealer for an OEM one.

Rad cap, I've recently changed one, the old one worked, but looked very rusty so I got a stainless one. I bought it from carbuilder:
https://www.carbuilder.com/uk/stainless ... seals-13lb

I actually added 2 rad caps to my order accidently, so I have a spare one sat here, you can have it for £9 if you want?

Hi James I will take you up on that offer thanks.
Pm me the details 👍

The reason I was changing the thermostat, is because she overheated badly whilst running stationary in my garage.
Boiling out of the rad cap.
Never had that before, and done it plenty of times.
Hoses off and the pump seems fine. Just a lot of gunge that needs flushing out it seems.
Cheers.
