Re: SA Restoration
Isn't there one in the back bumper? Thought I saw one when I looked last night.

Re: SA Restoration
That is definately inspiring, a lot of work has gone into it but look how good the end result was. I'm with lucky as I prefer a different number plate but still, kudos!!
Thanks for posting the link. Today i am off to the lock up to check on my motors and get planning. Hopefully have some more pics and news soon!

Re: SA Restoration
Hey Phil, no worries man, I've been away loads too busy with work and other things. The car is actually kept at RoTechniks hence the other Rx7s about. Or should I say cars
So first apology, I haven't updated in a while but finally got some photos and a more in depth look at my motors. I have 3 SAs now and plan to get one good one from them. This is the "new" car XEX 15X for your records Dave. As you can see I have stripped the interior to start with for the inevitable rust hunt!

I managed to remove the front carpet section under the dash without removing the heater or dash, result. Good news is that there doesn't seem to be any rust in the footwells/floor pans/a pillars/ chassis rails! Of course this is all subject to getting the car on a ramp and poking around with a screwdriver and a closer inspection but for now let's just believe this is the case
Of course there is the inevitable rear arch rust

Happy with under the seats though and the boot floor is solid

Looking at the chassis rail in the engine bay, its evident that the strut towers are going to need repairing and where they meet chassis, especially around this ever so slightly corroded water pipe
The metal has gone. Hopefully this can fixed easily enough but will prob get a specialist to do that as its critical.

So at the rear its another rusty story (isn't this what all my posts are
) but check out the "struts able to keep the rear hatch up even in wind shocker"

Check out the sun also, is that more of a shock?! The rear deck looks solid which is a bonus. The usual rust under the seal and around the catch for the hatch
is present but on the whole not bad, certainly not as bad as GTB744V
gotta laugh hey!

The rear arches are pretty shot but hoping to take metal from the white one and other car to repair these and the back panel is bad but can be fixed I reckon.

Doors need work or replacing

The front valance is gone as well under the bumper but then I am not surprised, takes a beating over the years. But on the whole I'm pleased, looks like a salvageable car. So, plans!
Well this is how she looks now

Looking across the Internet can get pretty serious haha, absolutely love this

But thinking of going for a colour like this

With the bumpers chromed, bullet mirror, these alloys and fabric centres in the black leather seats that need a retrim

Engine wise, I'm in 2 minds. I love the idea of a high revving NA 13B with IDA for simplicity, or a RX8 bridged engine. I'm a big fan of "outlaw" Porsches and the like so kinda looking for that. Could be a massive fail of course but I'm gonna give it ago and there will be haters but hopefully those that like the finished article as well hey.
So there we are. Hope it's interesting. Sorry it's pic heavy and about rust again, will attempt to get some encouraging shots up soon. Comments welcome
Thanks for looking
Simon

Re: SA Restoration
Yeh, you two have got a lot between you.
Thanks for XEX Simon, not seen him before. Duly noted. If you can tell me as and when any get scrapped that'll be good as well.
Cheers.....

Re: SA Restoration
Hi Simon, Yeh, I've got all the Reg Nos now of the 3 X S1's you've got, 1 X White, 2 X Red.RX7SA wrote:

I don't like asking for the VIN's whilst the car is alive 'cos I figure some owners won't want to give that info.
But if you don't mind I'd like them, or if you want to wait until you send any for scrap that's good as well. Think about it.
Cheers Dave
