Engine Mountings & Plate

Post by DKWW2000 »

I want replace my engine mountings & paint the mounting plate. I want to do this with the engine in place but do not have a hoist.
I am hoping to be able to do this by supporting the front of the gearbox with a jack & by placing a piece of timber under the front of the sump also supported by a jack.
Will the sump be man enough?
Or any better suggestions.

My 13B is sat on it sump, the weight of the engine should't really bend the sump.

If it's on a floor it's a bit of a secure spread loading on the sump, the sides give support as well.
With a jack and timber it's probably more point loading or loading in the centre of the sump?
