looks bloody scary to me too, fitting the engine in the hole is the easy bit... getting it to run....   :? :?
Oh yes, I very much agree!

I had been thinking about swirl pots for a while now. Debated getting some aluminium and welding something up to fit in front of the rear axle. Against the back seats. There is a decent amount of room there and would only cost about 25 pounds. But the last week or so I have been contemplating getting one of those internal surge tanks that get installed into the OEM tank. Aeromotive or Coachman Performance who make RX specific ones with low fuel safety setups. It seems like wayyyy less hassle! :o Less hoses, less noise, cooler fuel (hot fuel wont be recirculating back into the swirl pot). Would prefer not to mod the tank though

I don't want to mod my tank either, they are so rare in good condition and mine was new old stock so it's in great condition.
I had a real good look under the car yesterday while it was up on the ramp and space for a swirl pot is quite limited, I reckon I could fit one of these just behind the fuel pump location...

it's 207mm tall and 100mm in diameter so should just about fit without fouling anything or protruding below the bottom of the car and 1.5 ltr capacity which should be able to feed the 13bt

Yeah doesn't seem to make much sense in modding a perfectly fine tank.

Those are very nice! I was also under my car today haha. Managed to figure out a 1.5L size bottle can fit in that spot quite nicely as you also saw. About the same dimensions. Was thinking of making my own version of that really  . Would be a lot cheaper. Maybe with a fitting underneath the pot, rather than towards the bottom? Like this https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 1233227821

The low pressure feed and overflow shouldn't need to be AN fittings, right? Just push on/worm clamp? Debating a few things. If I could find one cheap enough then it'd be a done deal ha. Will have another look and measure tomorrow

Mega squirt looks time consuming. How long has it taken?
Brave man. Must be satisfying though.

Have you considered nipping out your good tank and fitting a custom tank in the wheel well? Connect it up to the usual filler.

Then you can have it built with in tank efi pump and even remove the need for a swirl pot.
Or still run the swirl, but with tonne of space underneath.

You’ll also gain lots of space for huge rear muffler to keep power up and noise down.

Worth investigating.
Back in the UK for the summer, maybe longer......

I ran a swirl pot for a while but it wasn't big enough to keep up, it was in the boot. Ramon had a horizontal one in the gap behind the stock pump which seemed to work ok. I did what Tool said in the end, just kept the stock tank but had a custom one made while running efi. Never ran out of fuel on WOT then...

If you do have the luxury of doing that, it doesn't half save you a lot of pipework and potential leaks - my mate who is a milk tank fabricator made mine for around £300.
