When lockdown started I decided to finally start my suspension rebuild. I bought poly bushes and a LSD some years ago. I also had new shocks at add, so when Pete and Dave decided to to buy new Racing Beat springs I joined in.
So with all the parts I started by removing the rear axle.
Removing the old bushes was another thing, they had to be burned out as they were still in very good condition, but never the less I wanted to fit poly ones.
I've now removed the old diff and fitted the LSD. This turned out to be a lot easier than I expected it to be.
Still a long way to go manly prep and paint .... bring on the POR15

Re: Rear end rebuild
Nice work Dibs, this is a big job to take on, well worth doing though. I took Gus to work this morning in the rain and thought to myself how planted it feels and how well it holds the road since I fitted polybushes, a lsd and a set of new Continentals. Polybushes and a lsd are some of the best improvements you can do to a 1st gen

Great to see you posting progress on here.
The trouble with Facebook is it's "in the moment" but gone a few weeks later (or at least very hard to find). Nothing like a thread/topic on the forum for posterity and track to progress
Glad you persevered with the picture posting on here Dibs

Pete, You wouldn't believe it, I must have pulled every muscle I ever had removing the tie rod bush mounts to the body lying under the car.

In 2013 i rebuild my axle too and coloured it with Hammerit "hammerschlag black" and Foliatec blue. 40 000km later in 2020 i am always happy with the result.
