Couldn't quite work out what this is for. A cable from a lever under the carb goes into this, sounds like a rack and gear wheel inside with an electric cable coming out.
Any ideas?

Re: Guess the do-hicky
Isn't that the warm-start throttle-blipping robot
? Y'know, gives the throttle a little brummm when you start the car after it's been running up to temp then turned off and on again.
At first I thought it was a specially trained little pixie who ran out and tugged the throttle cable, but rather disappointingly it's this little widget, I think
EDIT: or maybe what Ian said, he's better with being accurate than wot I is

If it is, I don't think it's working. Thought it maybe something like that or linked to the auto box to stop it stalling /cutting out.
Re: Guess the do-hicky
Wow some quick responses.
So cold or warm start assist? Any way to check it's working?
Do-hicky type widget thing with pixies inside running on fairy dust.

Re: Guess the do-hicky
sorry, the hot start assist, not the cold.... there's a relay for it on the inner wing behind it.... make sure the contacts are good and clean.... again, part of the over complication of the nikki carb.... i just chucked mine away when I turbo'd it and took the Nikki off

Thanks once again
I still like the idea of a proper name for it. Warm start assist doesn't quite do it (albeit quite descriptive) .
